Worst fall ever.... My husband and I once went to New Mexico. Being a Florida gal, I had never seen so much snow. I skipped off into the knee-high glory and "wham"! Who knew there was stuff under there?! I tripped over a log and took a tumble not bothering to catch myself as I tried to salvage my camera. I had a very long flight home and 4 weeks of physical therapy I could have done without. Note to self: Look before you leap, or in this case "skip".

Age 13.  I was helping my mom water the plants and playing with my dog at the same time.  (My first mistake).  I ran up the wooden stairs after my dog and slipped on the wet wood.  I busted my knee open and I needed 13 stitches.  You could see my knee bone.  My mom had to carry me to my grandma’s house so they could take me to the ER.  Kristie Conner O’Neal, Callahan, FL

I was on Missionary tour in upstate NY on a walk with the pastor and his wife by a stream.  I fell and broke my leg in 4 places.  They carried me out on a stretcher and took me to the hospital.  My first ever broken bone.  Marsha Barnwell, NC

I planned a camping trip last year, which I had looked forward to for months.  I got sick and had to cancel.  Booked it again this year.  Karen Herrin Henderson, Hilliard, FL

The first fall of 2005 that we moved to Washington State was hard because we left California.  We were so used to being near our kids.  Amy had to pray a lot so she wouldn’t be so lonely.  Michael Leath, California

I was walking down the sidewalk and stumbled over my own 2 feet after walking onto some gravel. I went down hard. I broke my right elbow, left wrist, lacerated my lip and chipped a tooth.  It was an epic fall. I learned a lot that summer.

In the fall 2020 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  My mother passed away from dementia.  My husband had to have back surgery and my best friend was killed in a tragic car accident.  We had to close our business and retire due to our health issues. It was a horrible time in our lives, but God walked us through.  I am still fighting cancer but it’s been 5 years and I am surviving with God’s help! He has walked with us through the fire and provided all our needs.  Praise be to the Lord. Susan Vatter Moninger, Crawfordville, FL

1) The dogs knocked me off the third step on the back porch this week. I’m still pretty bruised, sore and swollen, very unpleasant.  2) I fell outside my place of work 2 different times.  3) I fell off a table during a rehearsal and thought I tore my ACL.  3) I  went down with a broken ankle and was unable to stand up when the rain started. 4) I flipped over the handlebars of my bike and face-skidded. 5) I fell out of bed as an adult.  Marsha Renee McKinley Vermilion, Columbia City, IN

I fell and slid down a snow bank toward giant boulders and miraculously stopped before I hit them.  Ginny Hazboun, Downey, CA

I was 19 and walking down the sidewalk toward my pastor and his pastor friend who was selling me my first car.  I tripped and went sprawling.  I was close enough to be seen clearly by them, but too far to preserve my dignity by making a little joke.  That was the longest walk in my life as Why would they sell me a car when I obviously couldn’t even walk?

Ruth Orozco, Puyallup, WA

My baby was 2 months old. I lived across the street from my mom.  I had just had gall bladder surgery.  I walked to my mom’s and fell going up on her porch.  I twisted and turned and did everything I could so the baby did not hit the cement.  She did not, but in the process, I tore my incision open.  Fun times!

I fell in the shower.  I reached too far for something outside the bathtub and slipped trying to get back in.  It hurt.  Bruises, but ultimately fine.  Kristi Middleton, Anderson, IN

Three years ago, I was telling someone how I was already 36 and I had never broken a bone! Fast forward one week! It was my daughter's 6th birthday. I was rushing through the house with my hands full! I needed to hide all the junk and make the house look like no one lives here before the littles arrive and destroy it. I stepped down into our garage with my hands full. Only ONE step and I fell.  My metatarsal bone twisted and broke! That sure slowed me down.  Christa Moore, Greentown, IN

The worst fall I had was in 1995. I went to a skating rink with my mom and my son, Brandon. It had been years since I had skated (I was in 7th grade the last time I had went). I was skating around slowly and close to the end of the night I had begun to really enjoy skating again. All of a sudden, a man who was dance skating rounded the curve by me and he skated right over the tip of my skate. I fell and my left elbow hit the floor really hard. I knew immediately it was broken. The pain was excruciating and swelling began soon after the fall. I had to go to the emergency room in Orange Park. They did an X-ray and I was sitting down the hall when I saw them post it up for the doctors to look at. Even from the distance I could tell it was bad. I ended up having surgery the next morning and had to have rods put in my arm. Needless to say, I haven't skated since that day.   Jan Peterson, Callahan, FL

I was on a bus trip to Chicago with my mom to attend my brothers Navy training graduation  We made a few stops along the way.   When we were getting close to Chicago the roads were covered with snow. We stopped for dinner and I went over to the restaurant.  I bought spaghetti with meat balls to take out. Just before getting back on the bus, I slipped and fell.  I was wearing a fur hat and got spaghetti all over my hat.  I don't even remember getting my knees scratched. I was too worried about my hat!  Carmen Torres,  Palm Coast, FL

My pastor husband was to preach at Friendship Alliance Church. Sam was all dressed up in his three-piece suit and went ahead of me, carrying luggage to the car. For some reason, dad had never put a rail on the porch and the steps were off center.  Sam, who is blind, thought he was stepping onto the steps.  He took a step off the porch onto mom’s newly chicken-manured yard. He sprained his ankle and bruised his pride. Needless to say, Sam didn’t preach that morning and we had a very smelly ride all the way home.  Ann Thompson (for Sam), Clarkesville, GA

As an eleven year old Florida girl I went to Pennsylvania, where I experienced snow for the first time. Three steps out of the car and I went down on my knee and cried out, "Oh my knee, Oh, my knee" and the rest of my life my parents teased me with that phrase.

I was walking and looking at a life-size blown-up Santa figure lying on his back … chuckling that he was on sugar overload from all the Christmas cookies, and BLAM! I tripped on a manhole cover and fell on my hip on a cement driveway - ouch! I limped around till the next day, when I was in our church foyer arranging cookies for an event. All of a sudden, I felt my foot go numb and was afraid to put my weight on it. My husband pulled up to the drive-thru, and I had to be carried “slingshot” to the car. Off to the hospital I went, and had a total hip replacement the next day! Are we having fun yet? No!!    Gini Griffin, Jacksonville, FL

My mom had a china closet and I was in the bathroom. I thought someone had gotten into my toothpaste. I was turning into my mom and dad’s room and the next thing I knew, I ran into my mom’s china closet and bumped my head. This happened when I was about 6 or 7 years old . April Fisher. Lakeland, FL
